Ángeles Gitanos is a prestigious flamenco academy and dance company based in South Florida, founded in 2003 by Monika Lange and her mother, Gloria Plaza, with the mission of preserving, teaching, and sharing the passion, discipline, and cultural richness of flamenco. Located in Davie, Florida, near Weston, the academy is 100% dedicated to the comprehensive teaching of flamenco dance for children, teenagers, and adults, offering training in technique, choreography, artistic expression, and stage performance in a family-oriented, professional, and culturally enriching environment. For more than two decades, Ángeles Gitanos has trained dancers of different ages and skill levels, becoming a recognized reference for flamenco in South Florida through its artistic excellence, educational commitment, and love for this traditional Spanish art form. The academy has welcomed renowned international guest instructors to enrich the education of its students, including respected flamenco artists such as Siudy Garrido, María Juncal, La Truco, Domingo Ortega, Adrián Galia, Pastora Galván, and La Canela. Under the artistic direction of Monika Lange, who was born in Caracas, Venezuela, and trained for more than 20 years with distinguished flamenco teachers and academies, Ángeles Gitanos actively participates in festivals, cultural events, and artistic performances throughout Broward County and South Florida, promoting flamenco culture and Spanish art within the community. Through its Flamenco a la Carte project, the academy also offers personalized classes, performances, and cultural experiences for events and special occasions, bringing the art, passion, and tradition of flamenco to new generations and diverse audiences.

Meet the founder
Monika Lange is a woman of faith, passion, and service, recognized for her dedication to both the arts and her community. As the founder and artistic director of Ángeles Gitanos, she has devoted her life to preserving and sharing the beauty, discipline, and cultural richness of flamenco through education, artistic expression, and mentorship. Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Monika has spent decades training, teaching, and inspiring dancers of all ages while building a respected flamenco academy and artistic community in South Florida. Beyond her professional accomplishments, she is also an active servant within the Saint Katharine Drexel community, participating in the Emmaus ministry and supporting others through faith, encouragement, and service. Through her work, leadership, and commitment to her faith, Monika inspires others to pursue their talents with purpose, discipline, humility, and love for community.
